Congratulations to Deb Huxley who was awarded the 2023-24 Optimist International President's Citation for Outstanding Optimist Club Member at last night's APFO meeting. This award is on the recommendation of our club's President Tony Puzara but most certainly every member of our club realizes that Deb's decades long service makes her very deserving of this recognition. Making this award extra special is the fact that this year's OI President is Deb's daughter Tracy Huxley! Tracy was present at our meeting to be a part of this special presentation.
If you've had the opportunity to look through our photo archives on our website, it is obvious that Deb's contributions helped to build this club and she continues to be a strongly active and valued member. This community has derived so much good from her efforts. Her husband Ron is a Charter Member (and also a former Optimist International President) but women were not allowed to join until Optimist International changed that archaic rule - then she joined immediately. So we will call her a Charter Member as well, especially since she has been bringing out the best in our community since the club's inception.
Thank you Deb for your commitment, vision, hard work and Optimism with a capital 'O'! Your recognition is well deserved!
