For the past two years, our Optimist Hall upstairs above the Port Franks Library has hosted a display of work by local artists, running concurrently with the youth show downstairs in the Port Franks Community Centre. We've had two great successes and so we now regard this as a permanent feature of Free to Create going forward. If you are a local artist (18+) wanting an opportunity to display your work in a gallery setting, please reach out to us and we will welcome your involvement! We are looking for more artists - we know you're out there. . .

What this IS NOT
Maybe you've tried to jury into professional art shows and been turned down, or maybe you'd like to rent space in a co-op gallery but the price is not realistic. Maybe you are an emergent artist at the beginning of your journey, with dreams of making a living from your art. Maybe you just like to create art in a casual way and wonder if there are others close by like you. We'd love to give you the opportunity to be part of a fun, relaxed and inspiring weekend of sharing art!

We are looking for all genres of artwork - any medium except photography
Acrylic, oil, watercolour, graphite, charcoal, textiles (quilts, felting, hooking, leather, weaving), collage, mixed media, sculpture, engraving, woodworking, pottery, ceramics, mosaics - we want to showcase your art!
There is no cost to submit artwork for consideration. Please be aware that we are not accepting crafts, 'paint party' creations, or items that are more appropriate for a vendor sale (i.e. signs, jewelry etc.). If submitted artwork is accepted, there is a flat fee of $40 no matter the number of pieces accepted. This fee covers our artists' opening reception costs.
The kids' show draws a very large crowd and our gallery benefits greatly from this so there is a good amount of traffic all weekend long.
