DAY ONE
Amazing first day at the 2024 Optimist Summer Camp as reported by camp coordinator Optimist Kristy Lyon:
We started the day with introductions and games. Then we got nice and messy making volcanoes out of modeling clay. We learned about trees, bugs, birds and frogs in our Pinery activity guides some of the kids really enjoyed the "frog pond"!
Moses Art Moses Lunham joined us for a few hours this afternoon teaching us about the 7 grandfather teachings and sharing a story about turtle island before painting an awesome turtle! Thanks Moses!
Amazing Day 1, can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!
Can you see which kid wins for messiest?

This afternoon we made some awesome tie dye projects that you will have to wait to see on Friday!

Day Three
Day 3 of our summer camp started out with some chaos but all the best days do!
We made some boats, then pretended to be archeologists and dug gems and fossils out. After lunch the Pinery Naturalists came to talk insects. The kids each had a bug net and caught all of the insects around the community centre and then learned about them from our experts.
Another fun day!
Huge shout out to all of our volunteers!!! Couldn't do this without you!!!

Day Five
That’s a wrap for Summer Camp 2024! Huge kudos to camp coordinator Kristy Lyon for all of the great activities and opportunities - the kids loved their camp experience! Here is her final report:
Camp ended with a perfect day. The big tie dye reveal has arrived! Thanks again, Tania Tie Dyes, for amazing shirts, tote bags and pillow cases! We started the day with a walk to the sand dune and I think Rowan made it up and down 8 times! Back at the community centre we chatted about the Olympics, made some teams and competed in some fun mini-Olympic events!
After lunch we brought out the slip n slide and the water guns. Denise and I painted some faces, Lou and Debbie made some popcorn and helped clean with Lori and Linda.
To our helpers Rowan, Kelton, Isabella and Elias, thanks so very much for your help this past week!
That's all for summer camp 2024!
