This year, our Optimist club will be hosting our third youth art exhibition and sale in the community centre in Port Franks. This successful event has provided a venue for young artists ages 5 to 18 to display their work and be part of a show!

For 2024, we are piloting an exhibition for area artists who are older than 18. The show will run concurrently with the youth show, and the gallery will be hung in the recently renovated Optimist Hall upstairs above the Port Franks Library. Here is a chance for you to be a part of a show, meet other artists, and put your work out there! Please note, this is NOT a vendor sale. 

There is no jurying process for this show. Accepted mediums include: oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel, coloured pencil, collage, ink, encaustic, multimedia, sculpture using any material, glass, felt and textile. As you can see, you are truly 'Free to Create'!

There will also be no judging for this show, it is not a competition but rather an opportunity to bring our art community together and showcase some local talent.
If you choose to participate, you will need to submit the required fees via etransfer to our club's treasurer Derek Scott. He will accept your etransfer at [email protected]  the security question is "What is this for?" and the answer is "Artshow" (one word).

Fees are $20 for the first work and an additional $10 for any further works submitted up to three pieces in total (so that's $20 for one, $30 for two, and $40 for three).

You can find the exhibit label below. Please print, fill out, and securely attach it to each artwork you submit. This information will be used to generate the tags for the show. 

An announcement graphic has been provided for you to share with contacts and on your social media if you wish. We hope you will help us promote this show! 
Opening reception: Friday May 10th 7-9pm  . Artists may invite two guests.The opening reception is not open to the public. Light refreshments and libations will be provided to artists and their guests.

The show will run  Saturday and Sunday 10am -4pm and admission will be free.

These are the terms and conditions for taking part in this show. By entering artwork in the show, you are accepting these terms and conditions.
  • You may sell your artwork if you wish (but you don't have to), with a 20% commission to the Optimist club.
  • Patrons will pay for any purchases through etransfer to our club and we will remit payment to the artist. Cheques to our club or cash will also be accepted.
  • Any artwork sold must remain in the gallery until the show's closing so we won't have any bare spots.
  • You may submit up to three pieces of artwork.
  • Artwork may not exceed 4' in width.
  • Artwork must be properly wired if it is to be hung on the wall.
  • Artwork drop off is Monday May 6th at the Optimist Centre in Port Franks (exact time will be updated closer to the date). If you cannot make this drop off, you have the option of leaving it with Dawn at her home the weekend of the 4th and 5th. We will make it work! 
  • If you have business cards or other promotional materials be sure to bring some along, we will display them for you. A printed artist bio is a great idea and our committee chair is more than happy to help you create something using Canva design, contact us if you're interested.
  • The show will be hung on the 7th and 8th of May
  • There will be a private opening night reception on Friday May 10th 7-9 for artists and invited guests.
  • We hope that we can always have at least one artist present during the show's hours of 10am - 4pm on Saturday and Sunday to welcome guests and keep an eye on things. Please consider taking a shift when asked.
  • Artists must pick up their artwork at the show's closing.
  • The Optimist club of Ausable-Port Franks accepts no liability for damage to the artwork.
  • With respect to any submitted artwork for the show you hereby represent that you are the owner of the artwork and it is an original piece of art. 
  • The Optimist club of Ausable-Port Franks has your permission to use and re-use, publish and re-publish an image of the artwork, in whole or in part, individually or in conjunction with printed matter, or in composite form, and in any medium, for promotional purposes.
