Past President Karen Puzara was so happy to receive this grant from the Sunset Community Foundation for the Ausable Port Franks Optimist Club (Fire, Water and Ice Safety Program). Thank you to the Sunset Community Foundation and congratulations to the other 24 community organizations! It takes a village.
At our November general meeting, we had a lot to celebrate! We welcomed new members and paid tribute to our 'Perfect Pandemic President' Karen Puzara who gave us a retrospective on all of the great club initiatives over the past couple of years - despite the challenges presented by Covid. President-Elect of Optimist International - our own Tracy Huxley - was in attendance to express her admiration for how our club adapted and moved forward with innovative ways to remain relevant in our community and fulfill our mandate all while continuing to grow. Our newly instated club president Tony Puzara was happy to outline all of the great plans our club has for this new Optimist year.

After leading with vision and a lot of hard work, Karen Puzara hands over the gavel to her husband Tony Puzara! Taking over the office of President just before the pandemic hit, Karen didn’t have the opportunity to chair in person meetings so it’s nice she had the fun of using the gavel at our meeting and election this evening. She seemed to really enjoy it! Thank you Karen for your leadership and dedication. We are so happy that you will still be on the board as Past President.
