What a great meeting our members enjoyed last evening. We had a tasty barbeque outside at the pavilion. Fellowship, getting caught up, and welcoming quite a few guests who we hope will soon become members made for a wonderful evening. Our president Karen Puzara spoke about all of the initiatives our club has undertaken to fulfill our mandate despite the challenges of the past two years. We innovated and persevered to keep our connection with and support for the youth in our communities. Looking forward, we are excited about the return of our Canada Day Celebration, plans for youth summer day camps, the new Ice and Water Safety program we are implementing, our Free to Create youth art exhibition, and fun upgrades to the playground area. Ron Huxley was a proud father as he shared the news of his daughter Tracy's successful bid for Optimist International President Elect - making history as the second generation in the same family to fill the office. We also had the opportunity to see the finished renovations on our meeting hall, thanks to many volunteer hours and the able leadership of Paul Petersen it is an amazing transformation! Of course we also had an update on our current fundraiser 50/50 raffle - it's gaining momentum and we appreciate all of the support. Buy your tickets at www.OurOptimist5050.ca there are some great early bird prize packages to win!
